Infographics
I
must say, "I LOVE infographics!" I was hooked when I first started
seeing them on social media and on the news. I found this digital
resource to be concise and memorable way to learn more about certain
topics. With my interest piqued, I wanted to know how I could start to
create my own infographics. Just in case you're not aware of what
infographics are, I've included an example of one that I created using
Easel.ly. Part of what makes an infographic what it is, is seeing it.
Infographics combine digital graphics with words to convey a topic in a
format that helps the readers to make better connections with the
content that it is trying to convey.
This post will share three different platforms that you might want to consider using for creating your own infographics. Easelly, Infogram, and Piktochart are all good resources, in my opinion. I chose to use Easelly, over the other two options because they had a free graphic template that caught my eye.

Piktochart has many template choices to use in creating an
infographic. There are several nice templates that are free of charge,
but the images gallery is extremely limited in the free version. I
found it interesting that the pricing is more expensive for an
educator's subscription versus a subscription for the general public. I
found that the products offered for free, were not ones that I would
want to create. It does allow you to copy and paste images that are
part of their created template. It also allows you to copy images from
their template collections, but this is a lot of extra work. If you
have your own images to include on the infographic, it will cost you an
upgrade to a paid subscription to the platform. Piktochart has some
great infographic template options, follow this link to check out this
resource.
Infogram

Infogram is
a great option for creating infographics. The free version gets you
several templates and the use of several shapes or images. The free
templates limit your ability to use or to create your own images.
you'll need to purchase a subscription to have that option. The
platform offers some great templates with a subscription. Learn more
about this platform here.
All three of these platforms are user friendly, and can offer you many great options in creating infographics. In the end I decided that finding the platform that would offer me the most options for free, would be the best one for me. Depending on your needs or preferences, you might find that Infogram or Piktochart will work better for you. No matter which platform that you decide on using, infographics are a powerful way to help convey complex topics that will have a lasting impact on the viewers.

hi Tanya,
ReplyDeleteYour infograph is very colorful and neat. I can see that you took your time in developing the infograph. I also think that it is a great way to showcase information in a more pleasing way as to having just words. I also like that you post pictures of examples from each Infographic tool. You can let the reader know how you can create one by the three you mentioned.
